First I would like to say that Patty and Mal should be an inspirational couple for everyone. They have been married 55 years and still have all the love in the world for each other! I took their photos just a few days after I got engaged and they gave me so much hope!
Marriages these days don’t seem to last as long as they did years ago, so I asked them a few of their secrets to having a lasting marriage. This is what they said: “Patty always wanted to be fair…and the man must have a crew cut” haha, that cracked me up! Mal was in the military for some time while they were married. “You have to actually “like” each other!” and, “It’s important to have similar fundamental values in faith, political ideals, and goals.”Wise words from Mr. Malachy!
These two love birds live in Pennsylvania and have been coming to FL on vacation for many years! They got my card from the Kooky Coconut, a little family owned food joint on the beach, known for their cuban sandwiches and delicious ice-cream! It was actually my first real job in 2008! I have always gone back to visit and update them with my business cards.
When I called to confirm the shoot, Malachy answered and Patty was still getting read. He said, “You know, I don’t really want to do this photoshoot but Patty really does so I’m going to.” I grinned a little bit because I know that’s how most men feel about doing a photo session! Once I met them, we have great conversation during and after taking photos. It was so sweet to watch them interact! They had never done a photo session before, so anytime I would ask them to hold hands or give each other a kiss on the cheek, Patty would say “nooooo!” and then end up doing it and blushing after. When Malachy would give her a kiss, she would say, “Oh Mal”. 😀 It was the cutest thing!! By the end of the shoot, Mal came up to me and said, “You know, If I would have known that photoshoots were this much fun, I would have done this a long time ago! We had such a great time!” That made my day.
To top it off, they reminded me of Noah and Allie on the Notebook! They even looked like them. I hope you enjoy looking at these pictures as much as I did taking them. 🙂
