It’s A… [Our Own Gender Reveal]

October 8, 2014, a day that we’ve been anticipating for months! I woke up at 6:45am because our 20 week ultrasound was scheduled for 8:30 that morning.

So many thoughts were running through my head, whether it would be a sweet little girl or an adorable baby boy. At 8:45 we were called into the ultrasound room! I sat back in the doctors chair as Jon held my hand, both of us excited to see our little one on screen again. Though the last time we saw our baby, it was 8 weeks into our pregnancy. During the ultrasound, our tech went through a checklist of about 30 different parts of the baby that she had to make sure was growing correctly.

She zoomed in on the little nose, feet, eyes, hands, lips [which look a lot like Jon’s!], legs, spine, crown, arms, tummy, little booty and it’s tiny beating heart that I know will grow to love us more than we can ever imagine. I couldn’t help but shed a few tears of joy and amazement. She checked out the size of the head and the heart rate that I believe was 141. As she zoomed in on each part of our little baby, I couldn’t help but picture what it will be like to meet him or her, what it’s personality will be like, what will be the first word he or she mumbles, etc.

The baby kicked quite a bit while we were watching [which was extremely surreal!!] and had it’s legs/feet crossed at one point [SO CUTE] and then crossed it’s arms a few times almost as if it were saying, “No pictures please!” Jon said “It looks like he’s rapping!” For some reason, our tech thought we already knew what we were having because once she got through with her checklist, she said,

“Well, everything looks healthy and your baby is growing perfectly! And you already know what you’re having, so that’s great!” I stopped her and said, “Wait! What?! No we don’t know yet!!”

I looked at Jon confused and the tech said, “Oh you don’t? I thought I heard him [Jon] say something referring to the baby as a ‘He’. I said, “Oh he always refers to it as something other than an ‘It'”. Then she went back to my tummy and zoomed in on the goods! Jon was right, it was definitely a little boy!! Jon’s first words were, “Dad was right!” because his dad kept telling us he knew what we were having because of how many boys are in their family. Then she handed us the strip of photos of our tiny little man and we left with smiles on our face.

Once we got to the car, Jon and I were hugging and I leaned back, looked at him and said, “Well, that’s one wedding we won’t have to pay for!” πŸ™‚ We both laughed and I continued thinking about how life will be with our little boy! I am so happy and appreciative that God is giving us the gift of being a mommy and daddy to a SON!! Our house will be full of boys, Jon, Tucker, and now our little one! My heart is going to overflow even more.

Here are a few quick pictures we took with our tripod to tell you all the name and reveal the gender! Enjoy! Also, I’m curious to how many of you guessed it would be a boy! Comment below if you were right or wrong and your best baby tip! Thanks for reading the blog and please pray for me and our little one to stay healthy and that the pregnancy goes well! Here’s to 20 weeks and 2 days! A little over half way there! πŸ˜€
